The Championship has a few supposed big hitters in it this year, with Newcastle, Aston Villa and Norwich having been relegated from the Premier League in the 2015/2016 season.
Its unknown territory for Aston Villa having been an ever present in the Premier League since its formation in the 1992/1993 season so it will be interesting to see how they acclimatise to a different style of football in the second tier.
For Newcastle they will be looking for an instant return to the top league of English football, so as to keep the ‘Geordie Nation’ satisfied, especially with Middlesbrough and Sunderland being Premier League teams (bragging rights for the red & white teams of the North East).
The Championship tends to see lots of goals and if Newcastle keep hold of some of their bigger names, we expect them to be favourites to win the league and whether they get to the magical 100 point mark that is easily achievable for a team that runs away with the league will be the true barometer of success.
